“ Until things get back to a level of activity that involves all the disciplines and all the venues in the building, the Fourth Stage on Friday felt like a safe and reasonable place to begin. It’s the NAC’s smallest stage, normally holding about 150 people in a cabaret-style setting of tables and chairs.
This time, attendance was limited to about a fifth of capacity — well below the provincially mandated maximum of 50 people indoors — and the tables were scattered like islands separated by oceans of space, with just one or two chairs at each one. Plus, with a door opening directly onto Elgin Street, there was no access to the main lobby, thereby avoiding the need to touch additional door handles or breathe more indoor air than necessary. “
